Leeds based surface designer Anthony Hughes presents his new design studio with his debut collection of interior products. The Industrious Living collection includes digitally printed wallpapers, luxury cotton cushions, drum shade lighting and a small greetings card range.
Industrious Living draws on Anthony's influential love of industrial landscapes and the structures, textures, colours and shapes found within; all of this is related to his passion for surface design. From the vast engineering magnificence of the gasholder and the geometric shapes it creates to a decaying poster on the canal side with its revealing layers his work evokes a sense of man-made power and methodological decadence.
A short walk down the canal whilst at the University of Huddersfield on cold, December afternoon started his fascination with the industrial world.
Having originally trained in graphic design and merging together an interest in textiles, Anthony went on to graduate from the Surface Design for Fashion and Interiors course at the University of Huddersfield in 2011, specialising in surface solutions for interior applications. Anthony has had experience working with a multitude of various materials including ceramic tiles, carpet, glass and wooden flooring; the latter having produced his final major project to great success and superb coverage in the industry. Anthony has also worked for renowned UK trend forecasters Scarlet Opus as a trend researcher and blogger since graduating.
However, a longing and desire to create his own design studio and brand has resulted in him forging a path to the present day.
Anthony is passionate about high standards and good quality products and as a British design brand, it's important for the products to be British made. All products are printed and manufactured right here in the UK, utilising some of the best talent and skills in the industry.
